Welchs fruit snacks review

We were recently given an amazing opportunity through influenster to try out the new Welch's fruit snacks and for rolls.
All 4 of my children really enjoyed the brand new flavors and Varieties. I love that they're still made with real fruit!! The favorites in our house have got to be the new fruit rolls and yogurt covered fruit bites!!

My Thoughts: I really enjoyed this book. As a believer you still have questions and this book does a good job of sorting the scripture to find the answers you are seeking. I can see this a a great bible study tool or even a starting off point for a non or new believer. 101 pages of simple questions about Jesus, faith, and believing. I used this book as a devotional of sorts. I picked one of the 3 sections and went through it 1 page a day. I read the question applied it to where I currently am in my faith journey then studied the accompanied scripture. This I feel has helped me understand the bible a bit better. I like that it also opens up a door on how we can take those questions and turn them outward. Do you have a friend you want to bring closer to christ? I bet they have questions. Let this book guide you in discussion.

My Thoughts: Over the course of a few weeks I used this as my daily devotional and a way to refocus my thoughts and become closer to God. As someone who's a beginning a journal, I liked the prompts offered on the pages. At least for me, it's helpful to have a starting point already there. Something to focus my thoughts and help me to get words on the page. I found it a lot less intimidating than just a blank page. The other unique feature of this prayer and praise Journal was the coloring aspect. Adult coloring books are becoming really popular. As studies have shown coloring is a good stress relief tool. So I thought it was pretty Innovative to have that a part of a devotional Journal. Some days when I wasn't ready to put words on the page it was still nice to be able to pull out the journal and color. Even while coloring I was able to calm my mind and my body and then be able to focus on praying or praising God. Overall I really recommend this book to anyone looking for a good devotional or way to calm your spirit and mind.

My thoughts: This is a really cute toy! Not only is it a fun toy for children of all ages. My children ages 8, 7 and 2 love it! But it could also be used as a learning tool. I'm currently teaching my two-year-old at home and the dry erase board and chalkboard have come in handy with teaching how to write his letters and his numbers the magnets are fun and teaching him how to identify colors and animals as well as different shapes. My older children love creating new stories and acting them out with the magnets. They have also use the dry erase and chalkboard sides to work out math problems and practice their spelling. This is truly versatile product combining play and work and makes learning engaging and fun. I completely recommend this and plan on buying a few more for my nieces and nephews.

Stainless Steel Kids Water Bottle

All my children enjoy the Stainless Steel Kids Water Bottle. A few features I really like is the 12oz capacity is the perfect size for little toddler hands and fits perfectly in our big kids lunch box as well. The 2 interchangeable caps allows me the option to make it work for my 2 year old (sport cap) or change it and its perfect for my 8 year old (screw cap) The stainless steel bottle I thing keeps the drinks colder longer than a plastic bottle and is easier to clean with no staining from juices! We have had no issues with leaking the seals are tight and easy to clean. The only thing I don’t particularly like would be that the sports top might be difficult to clean when used with liquids other than water but that’s typical with all sport spouts.

Overall I would recommend this product to anyone and will have to pick up a few more so each of my children can have their own.

A Very Shaving Christmas

Teething tips from Nuk and Advil

 

I don’t know about you but one of my least favorite time during the baby/ toddler stage is teething!

My 2 year old is getting his molars right now and is pretty miserable. We are also expecting baby number 4 any day now so the teething woes are anything but far behind us. For us teething is usually managed by using amber teething necklaces but sometimes those stubborn teeth need a little more than holistic relief and for that we go with a pain reliever, like Advil, and of course every teething baby loves to chew on EVERYTHING!

Join Walmart and Pampers in supporting CHILDREN’S MIRACLE NETWORK HOSPITALS

 

Pampers and Walmart. These are 2 things that are a staple for the modern mom. Pampers are the only diapers we have used for all 3 (soon to be 4) children that we have, and Walmart is a great one-stop shop for everything from diapers and wipes to groceries and everything in between. Recently, Walmart has decided to team up with Pampers to donate money to the Children’s Miracle Network Hospitals. For those who don’t know, CHILDREN’S MIRACLE NETWORK HOSPITALS provides comfort, treatment, and hope to millions of sick kids for everything from asthma and broken bones all the way to birth defects or cancer. In honor of this, Walmart is donating a portion of the proceeds for each package of Pampers to the CMNH for a total donation of $200,000!

Some Information about Children’s Miracle Network Hospitals:

                Fortunately, my family has never had to have an experience with CMNH (knock on wood). But there are many people who have. Here are a few stories that touched my heart.

Allissondra’s parents were overjoyed at the birth of their happy and healthy little girl in 2009. Her first few months of life were full of magical moments as she began to talk, learned to stand and even sprouted her very first tooth. But then, just before her first birthday, everything changed; Allissondra started having unresponsive spells and developed a dangerously high fever.

Her family soon learned she had myasthenia gravis, an autoimmune neuromuscular disease leading to fluctuating muscle weakness and fatigue. Subsequent years brought additional concerns, such as idiopathic tachycardia and diabetes.

In spite of ongoing treatments and hospital stays, little Allissondra is a determined, dynamic and energetic young girl. The pint-sized performer loves to dance around, put on shows and entertain anyone who crosses her path, proving she’s not one to let her diagnoses keep her from happiness.

CMN Hospitals Funds in Action:

Funds from Children's Miracle Network Hospitals provide Allissondra with the life-saving equipment, tests and care she needs on a daily basis to survive.

Sophia will tell you God made her “special” by putting her heart on the opposite side, upside down and backwards. Because of the expertise of a multidisciplinary team at her hospital’s Heart Center, this curious and giggly little girl was able to beat the slim chance of survival she was given at birth.

Each heart and organ defect Sophia has is unique, but it’s very rare to find all these conditions in one child. With regular visits, four open-heart surgeries and three stomach surgeries, it’s no surprise all her major milestones — sitting, eating and walking for the first time — happened in the hospital.

Sophia still receives physical and occupational therapy and will always be on medication, but she appreciates each new day. She is passionate about art, playing softball and performing. Sophia recently stole the show as a Lost Boy in her school play and loves making an annual appearance on the local CMN Hospitals Telethon.

CMN Hospitals Funds in Action:

CMN Hospitals funds are used to purchase the latest equipment and diagnostic tools that help doctors find congenital heart defects and perform surgery on the tiniest of patients, like newborn Sophia.

It would be impossible to discuss this one movie without discussing those that came before. As I am sure everyone knows, The Hobbit is a single book written by J.R.R. Tolkien. It tells the tale of how a simple hobbit named Bilbo Baggins does something completely unexpected: he goes on an adventure with 13 dwarves and a wizard to reclaim a stolen treasure. The treasure lies in the Lonely Mountain under the guard of the dragon, Smaug. The dragon is killed, a battle is fought, and Bilbo returns home with treasure…and a magic ring. This ring is, of course, the One Ring of Power, source of all of the trouble in the sequel story, The Lord of the Rings.
When Peter Jackson took on the impossible task of turning Lord of the Rings into a successful movie trilogy, the one question everyone asked was: when will you do The Hobbit? Well, with The Hobbit, there was several legal problems. New Line Cinema received the rights to do Lord of the Rings, but the rights for The Hobbit were already property of MGM studios. It took years to get the legalities down, but finally, MGM allowed Jackson to make The Hobbit.
Jackson then decided that The Hobbit was worthy of its own trilogy of films. He wove into the story of The Hobbit details that do not show up until Lord of the Rings. For example, in The Hobbit book, the character of the Necromancer is only mentioned in passing at the end, whereas in the movie, the Necromancer (a.k.a. Sauron) is a main villain. Jackson also changes the effect the Ring has on Bilbo. In the book, Bilbo seems unchanged by possession of the Ring. In fact, in the book, he eventually tells his companions about the Ring. In the movies, however, Bilbo is exceedingly possessive and secretive of it, stroking it (like Frodo does in several scenes), going into a murderous rage when a spider touches it, and lying to Gandalf about it, not only once, but twice. Even at the end of this movie, when Gandalf warns him about using the Ring, Bilbo straight up tells Gandalf he lost it during the battle.
So, The Hobbit: The Battle of the Five Armies as a movie begins right where the last film, The Desolation of Smaug, ended: Smaug the dragon, roused from his deep slumber, is heading towards Lake Town to destroy those that helped the dwarves, led by Thorin Oakenshield, and Bilbo. There is no prologue, no flashback…not even the happy Hobbit theme that plays in the beginning of the first 2 films. It just jumps right into the action.
Smaug is defeated, but the town is destroyed. Bard, who was in jail in the last movie, slays the dragon and becomes leader of the town. He turns his sights to the Mountain, thinking to use the treasure to help his people. Along come the elves of Mirkwood, led by Thranduil. They, too, are on their way to the Mountain, but they stop to help the Men of the lake.
Meanwhile, in the Mountain, Thorin is desperately seeking the Arkenstone: the Heart of the Mountain, and the jewel that will unite all the dwarven clans under one ruler. Unbeknownst to him, Bilbo has already taken the jewel and is hiding it. Thorin, meanwhile, is being driven mad by the sheer amount of the treasure and his lust for the Arkenstone (similar to his grandfather). He is so obsessed that, when he finds out that the Men and Elves are approaching the Mountain, he prepares for battle with them rather than help them.
Gandalf, as we remember, is imprisoned in Dol Guldur by the Necromancer, now unmasked as Sauron. An army of evil Orcs, led by Azog, are marching towards the Mountain. They are to combine with forces from the north, led by the orc Bolg. Gandalf is rescued by the White Council: Elrond, Galadriel, Radagast, and Saruman. He then heads to the Mountain to warn everyone.
After the inevitable build-up to the battle (where a lot of story elements happen), the battle comes. The entire battle lasts around 45 minutes of the movie, making it the longest battle in the entire Middle-earth saga. Afterwards, the dead are buried (no spoilers in this part, you’ll just have to watch the movie), and Bilbo returns home. As I said, he takes back one chest of treasure, and lies to Gandalf about the Ring. The movie then ends with Gandalf knocking on the door (as in the beginning of The Fellowship of the Ring), and zooming in on the map of the Lonely Mountain.
All-in-all, this was a nice tie-in to Lord of the Rings. It appeals to fans of the books, as well as fans of the movies. Some complaints are merely about things you’d have to be an expert in Tolkien books to know about (such as Thranduil sending Legolas off to find a ranger called Strider, who is renowned as a great warrior. Anyone who has read Lord of the Rings knows that, by the time Frodo heads to Mount Doom, Aragorn, a.k.a. Strider, is 87. Lord of the Rings begins 60 years after The Hobbit, and it’s 17 years between Bilbo’s farewell party and the start of Frodo’s journey. So 87-17-60=10. That means, in The Hobbit, Aragorn should only be around 9-10 years old, hardly old enough to be a “renowned warrior”). But, ignoring such logistical things, The Hobbit and The Lord of the Rings films combine to make a well-done saga that, I feel, J.R.R. Tolkien himself would have approved of.

It’s time to let it go and “Let It Snow”!





There’s nothing like your favorite holiday songs to put you in great spirits this season. What if you could have some of the best holiday classics, sung by one of today’s best vocalists? You’re in luck!

My Thoughts: I love Idina Menzel! I have been a huge fan since her days playing Elphaba in Wicked and Maureen in RENT! My children just love the target kid friendly version of her and Michael Bublé’s version of Baby, It’s Cold Outside. She brings new life to old Christmas classics and her new songs are just beautiful.

VTech InnoTab Learning Cartridges

 

My children love to play games. Their father is a gamer, and my children are developing an interest in games as well. As a parent, it is my responsibility to make sure that they get some games that teach them lessons and give them knowledge, as well as allowing them to have fun jumping on the little mushroom guy with Mario.

Such games, when I was growing up, were hard to come by. Thankfully, my children each have a VTech Innotab, and I give them educational games to play. The Innotab is a kid-friendly tablet computer that can be enhanced with game cartridges for further educational adventures. There are eBooks that teach reading and vocabulary. There are licensed games that teach them math, science, and other skills while playing along with some of their favorite characters (like Jake and the Neverland Pirates, or Sophia the First).

Our youngest child, an 17 month old, and our oldest child, a 7 year old, both get extreme enjoyment out of the games they have for the Innotab. They play these games together, and complete the activities together. I personally love this tablet better than anything else on the market, as it is safe, it is entertaining, and it is educational. I cannot wait to give my children more great titles for Christmas this year.

Recently I was contacted and given the opportunity to review these new titles below and they were huge hits in our home. I have three children ages 7, 6, and 17 months and all three enjoyed all the titles below. I will be making a second post with action shots of the children with the games but they are currently packed for our long road trip coming up.

When Benjamin causes trouble at a local horse auction, horse breeder Joshua Glick decides that he must be taught a lesson. Carolyn and Joshua are unmistakably drawn to each other, but Joshua mistakenly assumes that Benjamin is Carolyn’s brother. Carolyn fears that if he discovers the truth, her past will destroy their budding romance. After years of shame and loneliness, Carolyn suddenly has two men vying for her attention. But which of them will give her the family - and the unconditional love - she’s longed for?

My Thoughts: A look into the world of a single Amish  mother. Watching Carolyn overcome her own guilt and see that she is not being judged for her past not by God or the others in her community was interesting o read. I was assume that no mater what religion you are you would feel some of these feelings. The relationship that Benjamin forages with Joshua is in my opinion just as important as the love story. The author develops these characters fully and makes you fall into the story. I highly recommend this book if you like Amish fiction.
