It’s time to let it go and “Let It Snow”!

My Thoughts: I love Idina Menzel! I have been a huge fan since her days playing Elphaba in Wicked and Maureen in RENT! My children just love the target kid friendly version of her and Michael Bublé’s version of Baby, It’s Cold Outside. She brings new life to old Christmas classics and her new songs are just beautiful.

VTech InnoTab Learning Cartridges

 

My children love to play games. Their father is a gamer, and my children are developing an interest in games as well. As a parent, it is my responsibility to make sure that they get some games that teach them lessons and give them knowledge, as well as allowing them to have fun jumping on the little mushroom guy with Mario.

Such games, when I was growing up, were hard to come by. Thankfully, my children each have a VTech Innotab, and I give them educational games to play. The Innotab is a kid-friendly tablet computer that can be enhanced with game cartridges for further educational adventures. There are eBooks that teach reading and vocabulary. There are licensed games that teach them math, science, and other skills while playing along with some of their favorite characters (like Jake and the Neverland Pirates, or Sophia the First).

Our youngest child, an 17 month old, and our oldest child, a 7 year old, both get extreme enjoyment out of the games they have for the Innotab. They play these games together, and complete the activities together. I personally love this tablet better than anything else on the market, as it is safe, it is entertaining, and it is educational. I cannot wait to give my children more great titles for Christmas this year.

Recently I was contacted and given the opportunity to review these new titles below and they were huge hits in our home. I have three children ages 7, 6, and 17 months and all three enjoyed all the titles below. I will be making a second post with action shots of the children with the games but they are currently packed for our long road trip coming up.

For years, the Hard Rock Café has catered to the adult crowd. Carolyn and Joshua are unmistakably drawn to each other, but Joshua mistakenly assumes that Benjamin is Carolyn’s brother. Carolyn fears that if he discovers the truth, her past will destroy their budding romance. After years of shame and loneliness, Carolyn suddenly has two men vying for her attention. But which of them will give her the family - and the unconditional love - she’s longed for?

My Thoughts: A look into the world of a single Amish  mother. Watching Carolyn overcome her own guilt and see that she is not being judged for her past not by God or the others in her community was interesting o read. I was assume that no mater what religion you are you would feel some of these feelings. The relationship that Benjamin forages with Joshua is in my opinion just as important as the love story. The author develops these characters fully and makes you fall into the story. I highly recommend this book if you like Amish fiction.

5-hour Energy “Yummification” Contest

One of the problems facing most Americans today: chronic tiredness. With the hustle and bustle of everyday life, people are busier than ever. First Things First Family Prize Pack

With 3 young children at home the idea of getting out of the house with out a pint sized tagalong, or 3, is about as possible as seeing a UFO. Robert and I are coming up on our 8th year anniversary and I tend to laugh abut our ideas of how we would spend a weekend away at least once a month just to reconnect. Oh to be young and unaware again . It was a fabulous dream full of great intentions, but it became just that, a dream. Finding a reliable babysitter you can trust is about as hard as finding a needle in a haystack. I’m sure those of you with children can relate. BUT the idea of dating your spouse isn't something we have just tosses away either. Its just a bit more complicated with children in the mix. *I couldn’t help but notice they overlooked the parent aspect of dating in the video. So we don’t spend weekends away with each other, although I still hold out hope that maybe it will happen for our anniversary, but we still find ways to ‘Date’. Sometimes its as simple as putting the kids to bed 30 minutes earlier and watching a movie with each other. We try to go to plays together or steal a night out when a babysitter falls in our laps. We find ways to keep the spark from our dating days alive today.

My Thoughts: This series is truly my favorite Amish Fiction series. I have waited (im)patiently for each new installment of the story about The Byler’s And King’s. Cindy is an amazing author. We left off with a few hearts broken and a family divided. Cindy opens book four with the characters hearts on the mend and as they strive to find a new normal tragedy strikes. There is so much going on in this book but its not busy as some stories get when they try to wrap up a series. We find love along side the people of Kings orchard. Without giving too much away I loved getting to know new characters and seeing our old friends struggle to follow the Amish ways and yet still find themselves. We get to see how deeply Phoebe and Steven love each other even in the midst of trouble. Leah finally makes the choice to follow the path God has set her on, even if that means she might have to give up being Amish. Jacob faces that he was never the one for Rhoda and that opens his heart for someone else. I will say that I’m happy that Jacob and Samuel are not at odds anymore and that even despite the consequences the love of family prevails.
If you only ever pick up one Amish fiction series make it Cindy Woodsmall’s Amish Vines and Orchards series. I cannot sing its praises more.

My Thoughts: Ten years have past and they both cant move on from the one that got away.…. I don’t like to give the story away so you wont get any spoilers here. I will say that BJ Harvey develops these characters in a way where your heart bleeds for the couple who let someone get in-between and now years later they still cant let each other go. Samantha has been raised to believe letting any control go means your weak. Sean wants to show her how surrendering, at least in bed, isn't relinquishing control in fact it’s the opposite. She controls his heart and doesn’t even know it…
This book was a fun and fast read. Great for reading between errands or while waiting in a doctors office. If you are familiar with BJ Harvey’s Bliss series you will love reading about Samantha and Sean. And if you haven't read them like that’s ok too, as it says in the description they read like stand alone novels. I have a love/hate relationship with shorter novels. I love that I can breeze through then but I also hate how it leaves you wanting more! BJ Harvey definitely leaves you wanting to know more. If you pick up this book come back here and let me know what you thought of it!

Now on to the products. I was skeptical but thought we could at least try it. BUT I was pleasantly surprised at the quality of the items and my little guy actually prefers some of these products to the name brand stuff. Our Liam is usually strictly fed breast milk so I didn’t think we would have the chance to try the formula but due to recent issues in finding milk donors we had to make a temporary switch to formula. Prior to getting my review pack I was talking to a gal pal who recommended Parents Choice formula for the switch because she found it the easiest on her babies when she made the switch. We had previously tried name brands before and our little guy rejected them as well as give him discomfort. First let me explain a bit my children have MSPI, Milk Soy Protein Intolerance. So finding a formula no matter what brand/type that wont make them sick is a hassle.

When I received my box of goodies I thought it was funny that the formula included was the very same one my friend recommended. Although this was actually the hardest for me to try, remember brand snob!, when we ran out of milk instead of purchasing XX brand I made him a bottle of Parents Choice formula. Right away I could see a difference and liked it. You’ll have to take my friend’s word for it but she says that she personally thinks it tastes the closest to breast milk. Yep SHE tried them all, so she took that bullet for all of us. My little Liam took the bottle fine and made the switch well. So I for one am sold on Parents Choice formula.

The puffs and yogurt bites are a big hit with our little guy and we don’t see a difference other than price between the name brand and store brand. I have also found that sometimes stores will offer more flavors in their brand. That is always a plus! Since trying what was sent to us, we have tried other store brand baby foods and our little guy loves it!

I personally love the puree pouches verses the name brand jars because I can just attach a spoon top and go… Yeah, I know there are name brand pouches out there too but now I’m hooked and love the savings.
