Ouch!

Why don't they warn you that antidepressants make sunscreen not work?
I'm already a fair skined Irish chick who loathses the sun as it is. But had I known the SPF 45 I was slathering on may well have been baby oil, I wouldn't have spent all day yesterday in the pool!
Not I have a severe sunburn with nausea, musle aches and a fever. Ugh! Kill me now!!

Swim Suit Shopping.

I know, I know that's a four letter word for some people. And other would rather die than be seen in a bathing suit. But have no fear there are fashionable suits out there for use more shapely women (what? round is a shape.)

I just picked up this cute swim suit at FasionBug.com. I just love this top it has all the support a full figure woman needs and just look at the back of it. I hate halter tops that don't offer alot of coverage. I like how this top is shaped like a tank top.

And I don't know about you but I want my whole butt covered at all times. No one wants to see my flabby butt cheeks hanging out the sides of a swim brief, so I opted for the draw string swim shorts.

I'm actually looking forward to summer this year and I wont be self conscious wearing this suit to the local pool.

Another Great Deal From Lane Bryant

Lane Bryant is really playing up the controversy over networks refusing to air their commercial. I personally liked it and think the networks are dumb but what can you do. I already posted/ranted about how sizest our society is and this isn't going to be another post like it.

Lane Bryant is offering 40% off store wide today only!! Go check it out. I already picked up 2 bras originally $26 for under $15 each! Go here to shop.

Zak's Dr. Sears mealtime products for kids

Spokane, WA (November 3, 2009) – Zak Designs is well known for making mealtime fun. But now it’s also helping to make meals healthier. Zak Designs has partnered with America’s Pediatrician, Dr. William Sears, to create a line of meal¬time products for children designed to "help promote healthy eating." All of the products are BPA-, PVC-, and Phthalate-free, and as an added bonus, they also include value added inserts with healthy eating tips from Dr. Sears.
“Dr. Sears is well-recognized as one of the foremost au¬thorities on healthy eating for children,” said Irv Zakheim, President and CEO of Zak Designs. “Partnering with him was a natural fit for us, and we’re excited to work with him to develop products that help make healthy eating fun.”

“I know how important it is for children to develop healthy eating patterns when they’re toddlers,” Dr. Sears said. “The habits they develop at a young age have a lasting impact on their long-term health.”

Smoothie Sipper™
Dr. Sears recommends that parents use smoothies as a tasty way for kids to get vitamins and minerals through fruit and dairy products. With the Smoothie Sipper™ that’s part of the Zak line, kids will have the perfect way to sip on these nutritious drinks with a cup that’s just the right size. For younger kids, Zak’s also included a Sippy Cup with a patent-pending Flo-Control™ valve that lets parents adjust the amount of liquid that flows through the valve and prevent drinking too much, too fast.

I was sent this item and love it. My Children eat yogurt and smoothies all the time. So I was thrilled to try out a sippy made just for that! The material is translucent enough that you can see through, but colored enough to disguise anything that may look unappetizing to your toddler. :-) I like that the shape is easy to grasp, and it's not a slippery so spills should be reduced. The one thing I didn’t like about it was that the straw can be easily removed so If you have a toddler like mine there will be a struggle to keep it in the sippy.

Here is the entire Dr. Sears line from Zak Designs.

I think all the products are cute and I'd really like to try the Nibble and Snack Trays.

BUY IT: You can buy any or all of these products on Amazon.com

Cover Your Hair Review & Giveaway - CLOSED

CoverYourHair.com is a one-stop for all of your hair accessory needs. Whether you wear headbands, bandanas, tichels, hats or need some hair clips, they have a good selection of styles and colors.

I was able to review a brown pre-tied headband and a pre-tied headband. I love how simple it is yet really cute too!

The elastic back makes it highly adjustable and it stayed in place nicely. This was the first pre-tied headband I had ever tried as I have always worn the traditional hard headbands. They are definitely a breeze to put on, while still having the same look.

Not sure what head covering is for you or want to try something new? Check out their About section where they outline their main hair covering styles here. Or check out their Browse Colors section to search for products according to your favorite color or a color to coordinate with a particular outfit. I loved this feature! I didn’t have to search for that one color to match my favorite outfits.

I’d really like to try out a tichel they look so stylish and comfy.

Buy it: Coveryourhair.com and while your there check out their DEAL OF THE WEEK!!

Win it: Coveryourhair.com is giving one of my readers a headband of choice!

Crazy Icky Week

This past week has been icky!! The weather turned from sunny and nice to cold and wet. I was starting to think we'd never see the sun again. As you can imagine I was thrilled! (insert eye roll here) We just got over a long winter of being locked up in the house all day so I was not a happy camper looking at the prospect of staying indoors for a whole week. Add in the fact that the kiddos have been sick you can imagine to whining I had to hear and that was just from the husband. OK, just kidding........ a bit. No really any parent knows how clingy a toddler can become when they are ill, I felt like they would become permanently attached to me forever.
Alas, they are on the mend and the sun finally can out today. All is well in the Russell home again. I thought I would share a few pictures of my crazy week.

As you can see Peyton felt awful and we found Lila sleeping in her chair at nap time. The move to a toddler bed has not been without some difficulties.

Yes we lived in our Jammie's this week, but it wasn't like we were going anywhere. (Me included)

Inspired By Finn Review and GIVEAWAY! - CLOSED

A frozen washcloth, a rubber teether, frozen foods, teething tablets, baby oragel, pain relievers…

The list goes on and on from natural remedies to old wives tales to modern conveniences. My lifesaver was a Baltic Amber teething necklace I ordered it from eBay and it cost a fortune. If only I had found Inspired by Finn first!! Kate from Inspired by Finn sent me a beautiful Amber necklace for an adult. I love it! It’s stylish, holistic and a perk for me now my children and I have matching necklaces.

Now, what is baltic amber you ask? It is not a stone but a fossilized tree resin. Historically, baltic amber has been used in Europe as a natural and traditional remedy and curative for many ailments for centuries. (It is commonly known as "teething jewelry" there because it has been successfully used for treating teething discomfort for hundreds of years.) When Baltic amber is worn on the skin, the skin’s warmth releases trace amounts of healing oils from the amber. These oils contain succinic acid and are absorbed into the skin. The lighter and more "milky" the color of the amber, the higher the amount of succinic acid in it.

Baltic amber helps by:
• Relieving pain
• Strengthening the body's immune system
• Restoring energy
• Maintaining wellness
• Helping to break a cycle of (chronic) inflammation
Not only are they functional, they are so pretty! Inspired by Finn carries many different colors (from butter to cherry colored amber) and designs of both amber and Hazelwood jewelry.

Because of the CPSIA Small Parts Legislation law passed last February, Inspired by Finn can no longer sell jewelry specifically for children under three, but many people (including ME!) got our Baltic amber for "teething necklaces" for our children. We have had great luck using them for this purpose though, so I did want to comment about it! (Baltic amber has been used to help with teething pain for centuries in Europe!)

Inspired by Finn has offered graciously offered my readers a chance to win a beautiful Baltic Amber necklace of their own. (16in, or smaller)

And for everyone Inspired by Finn is offering the following discount code that can be used at checkout to receive a 20% discount on anything in our store: BLOG68

Mandatory entry:
Go to Inspired by Finn and tell me which product is your favorite! (This is mandatory for any additional entries to count!) If you own one of their products already, tell us how much you LOVE it in your comment!

Ouchies Review

I found the best band-aids out there and I want to share them with you!! I love their motto: "Hide your wound not your style!"

Ouchies bandages stayed put, where I placed them, until I removed them. When you do remove them there is no redness, irritation, or that icky sticky film left over from the adhesive. For us, that is simply amazing. Ouchies took the Ouch out of the Ouchie for us! Ouchies will be traveling in our diaper bag with us from now on.
Ouchies has the Ouchies 4Boyz and 4Girlz styles…

and a really cool Make Ur Own set that comes complete with three markers!

As well as Ouchies Jr. Trucktown bandages and the Ouchies Jr. Olivia bandages.
Based on the designs of the fabulous books; Trucktown and Olivia.

You can become a charter member of P.A.B.B. (People Against Boring Bandages). Not only will you receive email updates and free samples, Ouchies will also generously donate one bandage to local hospitals to give to kids for each person who signs up for P.A.B.B. What a thoughtful gesture for Ouchies to do. Very impressive in my mind.

Buy It: You can purchase Ouchies online HERE. Each box retails for $5 and contains 20 bandages. There are five designs, 4 of each included in the box of 20.
There is also a really cool store locator on the Ouchies Online site.

Meridane Designs Review and GIVEAWAY! - CLOSED

One fine Colorado evening Sally Short was doodling, which is not something she often does. Her thoughts turned to love, as they frequently do, and at that moment she simply wrote “Love is all U need”, with the letters all stacked on top of each other.
That was the beginning of the What U Love Symbol. Sally kept refining this doodle until it formed a beautiful, symmetrical symbol. At the very last minute she added a peace sign because she is an old hippie (ok, lets not use the word 'old'…. lets use ‘original') and sent the design away to be cast in sterling silver.

Sally has always known she was destined to create a powerful symbol that meant something positive for many people - and her time has come!

Once we received the tangible symbol we knew it was awesome, but did not yet recognize how powerful it would come to be. It was not until the family was united during the holidays that we realized the symbol did not just say “Love is all you need” as originally intended. I saw the word “Believe”. How could that B?

It was then we became conscious that the symbol contained even more letters. We started with A,B,C,D…as each letter revealed itself the energy and excitement grew. Each of us helped discover the magic. Lo and behold we managed to find the entire alphabet! Everybody sees something different... sees what they need to see...all contained within the same symbol.

Isn't that amazing?? I mean really. One little symbol is the ENTIRE alphabet!! How cool is that? I think it's great and awesome!

I received the Sterling Silver symbol Necklace and It's BEAUTIFUL!!

I've gotten compliments on it already and So many people just love to tell me what it says for them.

BUY IT: You can find this necklace and so much more at Meridane Design.

WIN IT: One Lucky reader can win the exact same necklace I reviewed.

Mandatory entry: Go to Meridane Design, then come back here and tell me what it says for you and one other item you would love to own from them.

Zippity Doo Children's Hair Products Review

Growing up with 5 siblings we had our fair share of run in with the dreaded four letter word……LICE! Eww!!!
I worry about when my children get to be school age and I have to deal with the chance of Lice. So I was ecstatic when Zippity Doo invited me to try their line of children's hair care products that also prevents lice I was very interested!

Zippity Doo’s™ children’s hair care products are mild enough for daily use, provide health benefits to the hair and scalp while helping prevent lice infestation.

Zippity Doo sent me their entire line of hair products which included:
• Zippity Doo's Shampoo for children
• Zippity Doo's Conditioner for children
• Zippity Doo's Leave-in-Detangler for children (love this!)
• Zippity Doo's Styling Gel for children
• Zippity Doo's Shield Spray for children

Although my children don't go to school yet, it is still a great product to have on hand! Not only do these products come in fun colors and packaging, but they also smell good. They don't smell medicated at all! The shampoo and conditioner is great to use during his normal bath routine and the fact that it also prevents lice is a major added bonus!!! I also love the detangler! A must have in our home. I also shared this product with my sister who has two school aged sons and they gave the product 2 thumbs up!!

Here is the list of stores that carry Zippity Doo products. Crossing fingers that prevention is the key!
