Manage Allergies with Children’s Claritin; Mom Crew

Growing up I never had to think about allergies, most of my family didn’t have any and those of us who did, were allergic to medicines. Easy enough to deal with, I myself am allergic to penicillin products and Sudafed. I know to tell my doctors not to prescribe it. Simple! Then I met my husband, as a child he was allergic to dust, pollen and cats. As an adult he is still allergic to cats so we don’t have one. Then we moved to NY and all of a sudden I developed seasonal allergies!

Thus began the constant sneezing, itchy eyes, running nose, as well as a few other (oh so) fun allergy symptoms. WHY ME?  At almost 30? WHY NOW? After going my whole life as an (semi) allergy-free girl, I have allergies as an adult? And I had always thought you developed allergies as a child not as an adult.

Then I met my new best friend: Claritin. Claritin so far has been the only medication to ease all of my symptoms. My daughter, now 4, was diagnosed with severe allergies at 9 months old. She was allergic to milk, soy, eggs, as well as a bunch of other environmental stimuli's, it seemed like she was allergic everything! And our doctor recommended Children's Claritin. My best friend became her best friend too.

We already use Claritin, so I think it will be great to actually work with them and the rest of the Claritin Mom Crew. Keep checking back here for updates on Claritin and ways to help beat your children's allergies.

Here are a few from the March newsletter:
Spring Allergy Tips
It's not surprising that in the season notorious for allergies, we have the most tips to share! Beginning as early as February, invisible pollens from hardwood deciduous trees are big troublemakers for many allergy sufferers. But there's no reason to be miserable. These tips can help you minimize your exposure to allergens, and be prepared as possible for the pollen storm that's on the horizon.

  • Start taking Claritin® allergy products as soon as symptoms start.
    • Having medication on hand will help you prepare for allergy symptoms.
  • Know your nemesis.
    • When you understand what triggers your allergy symptoms, you can make an extra effort to avoid them. For example, grass pollen levels rise when grass is disturbed, so if that's one of your triggers, wear a mask when mowing or avoid mowing altogether.
  • Beat the clock.
    • Peak pollen production can occur in early morning, so try to plan outside activities at other times of the day.
  • Check the forecast.
    • Avoid going outdoors when pollen counts are high. Also, heavy rains wash pollen from the air, making post-shower outings more comfortable. Beware of dry, windy days when pollen can be particularly intense. (Get the pollen counts and weather forecast for your area and sign up for the Claritin® Allergy Forecast.)

All of these tips and more can be found on Claritin’s website and be sure to like them on Facebook as well!

Disclosure: As a member of the Children’s Claritin Mom Crew, I receive product samples and promotional items to share and use as I see fit.  No monetary compensation has taken place and any opinions expressed by me are honest and reflect my actual experience.

  1. great post, love your blog too! we keep the windows closed all the time so the pollen does not come inside. The fresh air is so nice this time of year, but beign outside is enough in the pollen for us.
